Ingredients of Orange Chicken

  5. It’s 2 Tb of cornflour.
  6. Take 4 Tb of all purpose flour.

  10. It’s 1 Tb of orange zest.
  11. You need 2 Tb of sesame oil.
  12. Prepare 2 Tb of white sesame seeds.
  13. Prepare Handful of chopped spring onion greens.
  14. Prepare 1 Tb of ginger garlic paste.
  15. Prepare 2 Tb of cornflour.
  16. Prepare 3-4 Tb of water.
  17. Take to taste of Salt.
  18. Take 1.5 of ts soy sauce.
  19. Take 1 of ts sugar(Optional).

Orange Chicken step by step

  1. Place the chicken pieces in a mixing bowl and marinate with 1ts salt,1tb black pepper and a beaten egg.
  2. Heat enough oil for deep frying/shallow frying in a wok/non stick pan.
  3. Combine 2tb cornflour and 4tb all purpose flour in a bowl and add it to the chicken.
  4. Coat the chicken well with the flour mix.
  5. Deep/shallow fry in batches till both sides are slightly brown and crisp (shallow frying may take more time for this process).
  6. Rest the fried chicken aside.
  7. Make a thin paste of 2tb cornflour and water.
  8. Heat sesame oil in a wok.
  9. Add ginger garlic paste Sauté for 2-3 minutes on medium heat.
  10. Add orange juice,zest,sugar and salt. Mix well.
  11. Add soy sauce and fried chicken.
  12. Cook on Low heat till the gravy thickens to the desired consistency.
  13. Take off heat and garnish with white sesame seeds and spring onion greens.
  14. Serve hot with plain rice and sautéed/grilled veggies.
  15. Tip: If shallow frying the chicken, make sure you do the same on medium-Low heat only.it may be time consuming, but the chicken needs to cook well..
