Ingredients of Toor Dal rasam
- Take 1 cup of toor Dal.
- Prepare 3 cups of water.
- You need 1 of onion.
- You need 1 of tomato.
- Take 1 of carrot.
- Take 3-4 of green chillies.
- Take 1 tablespoon of roasted coriander seeds.
- Take 1 tablespoon of roasted cumin seeds.
- You need Pinch of fenugreek seeds roasted.
- It’s as required of Soaked tamarind.
- It’s Pinch of turmeric powder.
- Take to taste of Salt.
- Take 3-4 cloves of garlic.
- Prepare Pinch of jaggery.
Toor Dal rasam step by step
- Slice onions, tomato, curry leaves and garlic..
- Pressure cooker toor Dal for 6 whistles and mash it by adding some water..
- Soak tamarind for 20 mintutes.
- Take a pan and pour oil, once the oil heats add mustard and cumin seeds, once it starts spluttering add onions, curry leaves, green chilli, again and turmeric and salt. Roast it for couple of minutes in low flame and add carrot, tomato, keep the stove in low flame and close it with a lid, open it and see, if the tomato cooked properly add the roasted and ground coriander, cumin and fenugreek powder into that and also, mix the tamarind well and pour tamarind water into it..
- Boil it in low flame and then add toor Dal, pour water and adjust the consistency, put jaggery, put salt if required again, and add sliced garlic into it and boil it in low flame and turn off the stove. Take the rasam into a bowl and serve hot with rice..
