Tuvar/Arhaar Dal: Bong Style- (Without Onion & Garlic) ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ step by step
- Wash & Soak the Dal for at least 30-60 mins time & then straining the water- pressure cook the same until, well cooked, let the pressure go off- until then, set aside..
- In a frying pan/wok: Add in the cooking oil over the medium-high flame & then, add into the same- All the Tempering Spices, one after the other & sautรฉ until it starts spluttering & releases nice aroma..
- Now, add in the chopped tomatoes & some salt & sautรฉ until the tomatoes are well cooked & becomes mushy- Also, at this point- Add in the crushed ginger or paste & keep sautรฉing..
- Once done: Add in the Cumins & Coriander Powder, Turmeric & Red Chilli Powder & mix well until nicely combined, also add in some Sugar (as per taste- but this particular dish tastes a bit sweet, hence Iโve used 1 tbsp sugar).
- Once all are mixed & well sautรฉed & the raw smell of the spices & tomatoes are gone & everythingโs well combined- Add in the cooked dal into it & give it a good mix until all are well incorporated.
- Now, lower the flame & cover the lid & allow it to cook for about 8-10 mins time, stirring occasionally in between- also, checking the salt & sugar at this point (adjust, if itโs required).
- Once done: Turn off the flame & allow it to sit on the oven itself, with the lid on- for about the next 10-15 mins time- Also, add in the Roasted Cumins Powder now in order to incorporate its fine aroma into it, while itโs in its standby position.
- Serve absolutely piping hot with equally piping hot Steamed Rice ๐ & sabji & fritters of your choice & ENJOY…๐๐ปโโ๏ธ.
